What a weekend we've just had as we enter into half term!
Our Nix Academy crew brought the ENERGY, the talent, and the pure joy to Spirit of the Dance competition, and we are SO buzzing about how everyone performed. But here's what really had us – SO many of our incredible dancers were competing for the FIRST TIME, and they absolutely SHOWED UP. Team Nix is stepping up in the most beautiful way, and every single performer involved should be extremely proud of themselves. L
GROUP MAGIC
Starting strong with our group pieces – and WOW, did they deliver! She took home 1st place with a killer 86 marks.
We had some seriously competitive placements across the board too. Hit Me with Your Best Shot came in strong with 2nd place (85 marks) for a first time outing, while My Sisters Keeper rounded out the top three with 3rd place (84 marks).
Special mentions to Lullaby and Secret Handshake for taking 1st place. And let's give a shout out to Ice Cream Crazy for bringing the vibes even with a 4th place finish.
The Greatest Show came through with a 2nd place finish (86 marks) a great achievement for a first time outing with so much potential here and even snagged Best Costume – because apparently talent AND style go hand in hand!
Indigo showed incredible promise for a first time performance with 82 marks (seriously impressive). We look forward to seeing that one honed with time.
Every single performance from our amazing dance studio students was worth celebrating.
DUETS & TRIOS
We had some solid duet and trio performances this weekend with placements across the board. Great work from everyone who stepped up in this category! Our duet and trio dancers showed real chemistry and commitment, bringing their A-game to the stage. Whether it was their first time or they're seasoned performers, the partnership and energy was absolutely there – and that's what makes duets and trios so special!
SOLO SPECTACULAR
Our soloists and trio performers were absolutely bringing it this weekend across multiple categories and styles against some very stiff competition. We saw some incredible moments, great placements, and seriously talented performances. Every single performer represented Nix Academy with pride and passion.
This competition was everything it should be – competitive, joyful, and a true celebration of the AMAZING talent within our Nix Academy family. From our groups setting the tone, to our duets and trios showing perfect partnership, to our soloists proving why we do what we do – it was an absolute masterclass in dedication and artistry.
But honestly? The REAL magic this weekend was watching so many of our dancers take the stage for the FIRST TIME and absolutely NAIL IT. The fact that we had this many debut performances at a competition and everyone was having the time of their lives. That's Team Nix at its finest.
Every single group, every duet, every trio, every solo performer – YOU SHOULD BE EXTREMELY PROUD OF YOURSELVES. You didn't just compete, you showed up with joy, passion, and total commitment. You're not just stepping up – you're stepping up while having the absolute best time ever, and that's what it's all about.
We came, we saw, we DANCED. And we're already excited for what's next.
To every student at Nix Academy, you're absolutely incredible. Let's keep this energy going throughout comp season and keep representing for Hampton Wick, Kingston and beyond!
