For many young performers and their parents, navigating the world of professional performing arts can seem daunting. That's where NIX Agency comes in. As part of our d NIX Academy family, we're dedicated to opening doors and creating meaningful children's agency opportunities for talented young performers.
In this Q&A, we sit down with Rea, the driving force behind NIX Agency, to learn more about how Nix Agency is helping young talent take their first steps into the professional performing arts industry.
Q: Could you tell us more about how NIX Agency's children's agency opportunities fit into the overall NIX Academy umbrella?
A: NIX Academy itself is all about nurturing and inspiring young performers, which aligns perfectly with our children's agency opportunities. We're specifically focused on giving children who want to take their hobby further into working in the performing arts industry.
Q: What kind of children's agency opportunities can young talent expect in 2025?
A: We're expanding our children's agency opportunities through various workshops throughout the year to help understand the industry and learn different audition forms. We also hope to grow the agency with more exciting new clients!
Q: Can you share more about the specific children's agency opportunities students might be put forward for?
A: This year we have some amazing industry workshops lined up with people from big shows like Les Mis and SIX. Our children's agency opportunities include casting calls for UK tours like Mary Poppins, commercials for McDonald's, BBC TV shows and West End shows like Evita and Starlight Express.
Q: How do you match students with children's agency opportunities - what's the process?
A: There are two ways we connect young performers with children's agency opportunities. First through Open Auditions, which are rare but open to everyone. The majority come through Spotlight - the industry's primary casting site where we secure most major opportunities.
Q: How does NIX prepare students for these children's agency opportunities?
A: We offer lots of workshops throughout the year to ensure our members are ready for any audition. When opportunities arise, myself (Rea) and Nicky offer quick, free private sessions to film self-tapes or practise pieces for auditions.
Q: What role do LAMDA qualifications play in accessing children's agency opportunities?
A: LAMDA is a great way for young performers to sharpen their acting skills. Acting is crucial when wanting to get into the performing arts industry, and this qualification ensures your child has the basic skills and more. We recommend everyone on the agency doing LAMDA or IPATH Acting qualifications.
Q: What advice would you give to parents considering these opportunities for their children?
A: I would say that there is no pressure. Your child will not become rich and famous in a blink of an eye. For some children it is just to experience something new and for others, it's something they're considering long-term, where starting early can help them develop into adult performers.
Q: How can parents learn more about NIX Agency's opportunities?
