Rejoice - Nix rocks Hampton with Sister Act Junior!

Hampton Wick was filled with music and laughter last weekend as Nix Academy presented their delightful production of Sister Act Junior. The show was a proper treat, with the young performers bringing enthusiasm and energy that had the audience clapping along and smiling throughout.

Fun-Filled Performances

The whole cast threw themselves into their roles with gusto. Our Deloris brought sassy charm to the lead role, while our Mother Superior delivered her disapproving lines with perfect comic timing that had parents and grandparents chuckling appreciatively.

The young performers playing Curtis and his henchmen clearly had a brilliant time with their comedic scene. Meanwhile, the chorus of nuns evolved beautifully from their initially hesitant and off key singing to become a properly rousing choir by the show's end.

What stood out most was how much fun everyone was having on stage. The beaming smiles on stage were matched by those in our audience.

Tuneful Numbers

The musical performances were genuinely lovely. Under Scott's patient singing coaching, the children delivered the show's catchy numbers with enthusiasm and some surprisingly good harmonies. "Raise Your Voice" was a firm favourite and the finale had everyone tapping their feet, with several audience members unable to resist joining in with the chorus. The joy on the children's faces as they received their well-deserved applause said it all.

Lively Moves

The choreography was perfectly tailored to suit different ability levels from our very youngest performers to our tweens allowing everyone to participate fully whilst having so much fun which was clearly infectious. Even our shyest children gaining confidence with each dance number!

Team Effort

What made this production special was seeing how the children supported each other throughout. Our more experienced performers could be spotted quietly helping newer and younger members find their positions and lines, and the sense of camaraderie was evident in every scene. This wasn't about showcasing stars but about creating something fun together - entirely in keeping with the show's themes of community and finding unexpected friendship.

Well Done All!

Well done to Nicky who was visibly so proud of every single performer and the many weeks of rehearsals and hard work. For every single one of our students involved it was a wonderful way to build confidence, work as a team, and discover the joy of live performance in a supportive environment! Next, we're onto our Summer Show!

A hearty round of applause to Nicky, Anna, Scott, and most importantly, to all the children who worked so hard in rehearsals. They might have been playing parts, but the confidence and joy they displayed were absolutely genuine.
